🌾Empowering Change: First Progress Report of the “Development of Tribal Women and Children, West Champaran, Bihar

We’re happy to share the first progress update (March–October 2025) of our project “Development of Tribal Women and Children”, being carried out by AGYVS with support from People for Progress in India (PPI).

This project is helping the Tharu tribal community in West Champaran by giving women skill training and improving children’s health and nutrition.

So far,

  • 60 tribal women have received training in tailoring and lac bangle making.
  • 50 malnourished children are getting regular nutritious food.
  • Small kitchen gardens have been started in villages to promote healthy eating.
  • Awareness meetings have helped families understand the importance of women’s work, children’s education, and better health.

Women like Anju Devi and Urmila Kumari are real examples of change — both have started earning and now dream of a better future for their families.

This is just the beginning. Together, we’re working to create a stronger, healthier, and more self-reliant tribal community.
